1-10 Armbar from the Back

Continuing the exploration of the armbar to back take connection, we are looking at one variation for attacking with the armbar from the back.  Looking at it through a 3-D Jiu-Jitsu lens, back control is not terribly different from full guard. Your opponent is between your legs after all. You can theoretically attack with most of the techniques that you can attack with from guard, just slightly modified: triangles, armbars, and cross collar chokes. Whether you’d want to use those attacks is another discussion entirely (I personally prefer to maintain back control and hunt for the rear naked choke or bow & arrow choke exclusively). The key here is that you can again use the threat of the back, and all that it entails in terms of submissions, to set up the armbar.
