2-13 Kimura from Guard to Switch

The switch is a relatively new addition to my game, and it’s been an important one because the end result of a switch is that one of my opponent’s arms ends up dragged across my body. This particular switch—from the guard after an attempted Kimura—is not an orthodox switch by any means, but since I didn’t come from a wrestling background a switch from guard made more sense to my jiu-jitsu brain than the more traditional applications of the technique. As you work on your switch, remember to drive forward as you scoot your hips away as though you are trying to set your chest on your opponent’s back. You may be surprised to discover that the movement of a switch is not all that different from an arm drag, and I hope that it will have the same impact on your game as it did on mine.
