3-01 Standing Arm Drag to Single Leg

Rather than show you a basic shot—hundreds of instructionals can teach you that better than I can—I want to show you the connection between the arm drag and the single leg. When you threaten the arm drag, one of your opponent’s most common reactions is to yank his arm away. While this reaction eliminates your chance to take the back, it does clear a path for a shot. Recently, thanks to the insight of my friend Leo Kirby, I’ve even begun to assume that the arm drag will fail even before my opponent rips his arm free, so I begin my shot early to reduce the lag time between attempted arm drag and attempted shot. You may have success with that approach as well.
